Separation/Divorce/Post-Divorce

Stages

You might have been thinking about divorce – or maybe your spouse has asked for one.

It’s begun – you’re smack in the middle of it.

Or it’s final, and now you have to pick up the pieces.

Regardless of where you are, you’re caught in the whirlwind of emotions and confusion, pain, fear, or even regret.

Being honest, there is no exact length to the phases one goes through during separation, divorce, or post-divorce. They are phases, and each has setbacks, hurt, growth, acceptance, denial. The only way through the next stage is one by one.

I will help you to understand what to expect and what not to expect. In doing this, we can create emotional supports all through your journey.

Ambivalence

You could be weighing your options – do you want a divorce or not?

You want to be strong and stand up for yourself, but you see so much you value and want to save in the big picture. Do you want to give all that up?

Or you may feel hopeless because this wasn’t your decision. You can’t go back, but how do you move on?

No one – I mean no one – can know what it’s like for you. To make – or accept – a decision like this or experience the grief or hope associated with it.

Wherever you are in the process, confused or lonely, there are decisions only you can make. I have years of experience and focus on boundaries, unhealthy or dependent behaviors, self-worth, to highlight what is necessary to make decisions about your future.

Support

But you don’t have to make those choices alone. I’ll help clarify, weighing all options specific to your situation.

Even when it’s final, you may still be dealing with a blended family, either on your side or the side of your ex. The roles each person plays affects both sides – it’s easy to get lost. But I can help you find where you are and determine where to go from HERE.

And even when seemingly amicable, these situations are exceptionally stressful. There’s no shortcut, but there are some common and identifiable phases – though you will experience them in your way. My job is to support, advise, and direct you to the best possible outcome.
Though my years of training help, my most valuable asset to you is my ability to put myself in your shoes.
